Swept Away

Since I last left my fingerprints here, lots have happened..like Christmas and a mass murderer of a tsunami. I left Chennai a couple of days before the usually blue and benign seas suddenly turned black and malignant. The waves took a lot along with them this time.

I left Chennai for home. Spent a quiet and relaxed Christmas at home with my folks even as people elsewhere were recovering from having lost everyone and everything they had. Makes you think that you are living on perhaps another planet..light years away from what's happened..when in fact u are only an hour or so away..

I often wonder why things like this happen..Nature's way of reclaiming her own..God's way of punishing the earth...Noah's Age Returns...hell i am not convinced..

It's sad.

Sadder still when you know that for most of humanity, and that cruelly includes me, tomorrow, new year's eve, will be a night of drunken revels and wild parties..while for the kin of those 80,000 who were swept away..i don't know how they would take all this..

"No man is an island, entire of itself...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee."
