Yesterday was one fantabulous day! It RAINED here!! And Lord Almighty was it the best rain I've seen in this place for the last two months that I've been here. It started very quietly enough. First to arrive was one dark cloud..this was probably some time in the morning..the fellow looked inconspicuous enough in an otherwise blue sky. But before long his buddies came to join him for the party. And pretty soon enough, the sky was no longer feeling blue. It was a sombre, thoughtful, philosophical strain of grey. I came out of my office and stood out of the building. Looked up at the sky trying to peer through the clouds who were now one big multinational conglomerate (GE would have been proud). As I was vainly trying to outstare the clouds who were condescendingly looking down on a puny earthling, I felt something splat on my forehead. Don't laugh...not yet...it wasn't crow pudding..(you know..the whitish, greyish, fluidish, solidish shit). It was a giant raindrop. Soon enough the next one fell, and then the next, then the next..it started drizzling and I was still standing outside.
Then Zeus struck. A great clap of thunder followed by a white streak in the sky. Billions of Blistering Barnacles! The puny earthling was sent scurrying for shelter in his office. I decided that it was better to try and outstare the sky from inside my office.
The rain continued unabated for about one hour. During this one hour, it was quite a heavy downpour. Somebody in the heavens was doing a good lot of mopping or cleaning about. C____and I decided that it was the best climate to have a steaming cup (awright..wrong word..it sounds too bourgeois)...I meant, steaming glass of tea. We borrowed a colleague's car and gamely went out in the rain. The road in front of our office was flooded. C______ brought the car as close to the office as possible. I had to really stretch out to make ends meet..or else I would have stepped into the micro river that was flowing in front of me. But I made it.
An hour later, the rain had humbled itself to a light drizzle..ideal for a walk in the rain. The only thing lacking in an otherwise puuurrrfect day was the lack of her presence by my side..I remember the times when we used to go walking in the rain, underneath one umbrella..feeling the warmth of her body against mine. If only she were there yesterday, then I would have died and gone to heaven.
But then, it was simply not possible for her to have been there. I was at work! And I definitely am not that disloyal a company man that I would dream myself to sleep while at work and try to invoke the charming and sizzling person of Bipasha Basu in my dreams!!!
Let's hear it for the rains!
Cheerio
